Nature Care Foundation

ABOUT US:

In 1987, when Pasanno Bhikku was the abbot of Wat Pah Nanachat (International Forest Monastery) in Ubon Ratchathani. There was a survey of a location for setting up “Wat Phu Chom Kom” (another branch of Wat Pah Nanachat) in Na Pho Klang sub-district, Khong Chiam District, Ubon Ratchathani. The forest area was full of the diversity of Dong Natham Forest, which is a part of Pha Taem National Park.

The Dong Na Tham Forest was a pure forest, covered with the diversity of flora and fauna, but unfortunately, the forest was destroyed and had taken the advantages by different groups of selfish people. With the care and love for the forest and the expectation to conserve this forest as ‘natural heritage and the benefits for people in the community and outsiders, Passano Bhikku and his followers from different walks of life had founded ‘Nature Care Group’ in 1992. The idea was to work on the projects to conserve the Dong Na Tham forest and seek for the ways to develop the roles and life potentials of people in a target area.

Four years later, since the group had been accepted from the community, government/private sections and media, the group changed its name to ‘Nature Care Foundation’ in 1996 – the foundation is a private development organization that works for natural resource and environmental conservation.
